Audiology Associates Inc.
Company Profile

The firm operates three divisions that all focus on different aspects of hearing health care:

Clinical Services that provide a full range of diagnostic and rehabilitative audiologic care in the Baltimore Metropolitian area.

Instrumentation Services that provide sales, service, and calibration of audiologic equipment for the Hearing Health Care Professional.

Hearing Aid Services for the Audiologist that provide hearing aid dispensing services for non-dispensing audiologists throughout the United States.

History

Audiology Associates, Inc. was formed in 1977 for the sole purpose of providing comprehensive clinical services in a private practice environment. This was the first group of private practice audiologists in the state of Maryland to dispense hearing aids. In recent years, the clinical division of the company has grown to include six offices located in the Baltimore, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County and Howard County.

By 1980, advancements in technology and new clinical procedures raised the sophistication of audiometric equipment. It was apparent that individuals who sold and serviced required an extensive background in the application of audiologic procedures. Thus, Audiology Associates began offering instrumentation sales and calibration services. The firm hired the first audiologist employed in the country as an instrumentation sales representative. In 1986, Audiology Associates, Inc. opened a facility in Oreland, Pa. to serve Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Audiology Associates had grown to become the third largest distributor of instrumentation products in the United States.

In 1980 AAI formed another division, called Associated Dispensing Service, with the primary mission to provide hearing aid dispensing services to audiologists. This service allows non-dispensing audiologists to provide complete patient management care. Audiology Associates, Inc. was the first audiology practice to dispense hearing aids in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Fees were initially established on a fee-for-service basis. Consequently, if a colleague in Baltimore needed an aid for a patient and could not directly dispense, they could use our service to obtain the aid. As the dispensing service grew, we received requests from audiologists from outside our geographic area. Associated Dispensing Service now has clients in nearly all 50 states.

Today's clinical services utilize the most advanced technologies available, such as computerized hearing aids. Specifically, hearing aids can be programmed in our office to match a patient’s individual hearing levels and comfort range, thereby improving their communication skills, particularly in the presence of background noise. AAI provides services for children and adults.
