We’re beyond excited to reveal the winners of our Gift of Better Hearing giveaway, where we pick winners for each of our participating locations to receive complimentary hearing assessments and hearing aids.
It was difficult to pick just one winner for each location—we wish we could’ve picked everyone who was nominated! But the six that we picked were all so deserving of hearing care, especially thanks to the nominations from our community.
Whether it was due to financial constraints or putting others first, our six winners couldn’t quite acquire hearing care, but their loved ones knew they deserved it.
Our winners are…
For Our Timonium Location, Patrick Rosendale!
Patrick’s daughter Haley nominated her father to win, as he’s a great father and grandfather who deserves hearing care to help him stay connected with his family.
Patrick was interested in hearing aids but needed to save money for them; with just Medicare to help, and his disability funds, he had to wait a while. Thankfully, his daughter saw that he needed hearing aids and came to Audiology Associates with his story.
Joseph Floyd Wins for Lutherville’s Clinic!
Joseph Floyd was nominated by his partner and caregiver Ethel Kingwood, who wrote us a touching nomination about him. Joseph has struggled with hearing loss since 2018 after a sudden stroke during surgery.
With Medicaid and Medicare as his insurance providers, Joseph was waiting on a long preauthorization process to see if he would be approved for hearing aid coverage. Ethel told us that if anyone she knew deserved hearing aids, it was Joseph.
Ellicott City’s Winner Is Marcus Stewart!
Our Ellicott City audiologist, Dr. Jennifer Kincaid, nominated Marcus to win our Gift of Better Hearing giveaway.
Marcus initially only wore one hearing aid, but Dr. Kincaid knew that he would benefit immensely from a hearing aid in each ear. His previous hearing aid was so old, and medical insurance assistance couldn’t afford the sort of technology that his hearing loss challenges needed.
Marcus was so grateful to receive the new hearing aids—at just 30 years old, he can hear the life he loves once more without having to worry about his old hearing aid.
Our DC (New Mexico Avenue) Location Winner Is Annie Hammel!
Annie was nominated by an incredible 19 members of her family and friends—a record number!
Each one wrote us an earnest and heartfelt nomination that told us about how Annie would immensely benefit from a pair of hearing aids, especially due to her current level of hearing loss affecting her productivity at work.
During her fitting, Annie was incredibly grateful for the opportunity, and she’s getting back to her job with a newfound focus.
Washington, DC, Clinic Winner: Dr. Patricia Shaw!
Patricia was nominated by our DC audiologist, Dr. Jessica Kreidler, who has been Patricia’s hearing care provider since August 2023. Patricia recently lost her husband, and she has been struggling with grief while also juggling being a mother and a working academic at Howard University.
Patricia has severe tinnitus and has fallen several times before; with no medical benefit to cover hearing aids, Dr. Kreidler knew that there was no better candidate for better hearing.
Glen Burnie’s Location Winner Is Matthew Harris!
Dr. Logan Fraser nominated Matthew; he has Usher Syndrome, which means that he progressively lost both his vision and his hearing. His wife also has vision loss, and neither of them were able to get benefits for hearing aids with their specific Medicaid coverage.
Now completely blind with significant hearing loss, Matthew wrote a book about his journey with Usher Syndrome. Dr. Fraser knew that Matthew would benefit from hearing aids to stay close with his wife and stay safe when he’s out and about.
A Sincere Thank You from Audiology Associates
