Werner von Siemens made a pivotal discovery when he built a telephone with a horseshoe magnet, which amplified voice signals in order to improve the device’s voice quality in 1878, transforming the manufacturing of telegraphic instruments and laying the foundation of today’s Siemens hearing aids.
The first BTE (behind-the-ear) instrument developed by Siemens was released in 1959, followed by the company’s first (ITE) in-the-ear hearing aid in 1966. The most important innovation of Siemens is the Binax platform, capable of outperforming natural hearing in a noisy environment, which was supported by independent studies conducted by the University of Northern Colorado and the Hearing Center of the University of Oldenburg.
Binax performance is the result of its e2e wireless technology capable of stimulating binaural hearing by incorporating an eight-microphone network (four per hearing aid), which shares sound signal data to balance output.
