Theres no doubt about it sifting through your insurance documents and figuring out what your insurance does and doesnt cover can often be a baffling and time-consuming process. Patients often ask us for advice once they learn they need to purchase hearing aids.

So weve put together this blog to get you started. However, if you need further assistance, Audiology Associates can help you out. Youll be glad to know that we partner with all major insurance providers.

Hearing aid expenses

Before you do anything, it is essential to review the different types of hearing aids with your audiologist. Ask about the different features and what they recommend is best for you.

Then sit down and consider your options. Ask yourself which features you absolutely need, which features youd like but would still be okay without them, and which features are completely unnecessary.

The price of hearing aids can vary depending on which features you choose. Investigate those that meet your must-have list and your would-like-to-have list, and then select the ones that are within your budget.

If your insurance plan doesnt cover any of the features you need, we can discuss finance plans with you.

Different coverage types

Coverage includes:

Medicaid Partial or complete hearing aid costs in most states.

Medicare No hearing aid costs are covered.

Private health insurance See your individual plan for details.

Veterans Administration benefits Hearing aids are available to qualified veterans via VA healthcare facilities.

Questions worth asking your insurance provider
